Hey friends! The weekend is here, and fall is fully rolling through our corner of Ohio. I looked at what is happening Friday through Sunday in Brunswick, Valley City, Medina, and Hinckley so you can plan a great few days. Here is your weekend roundup.

Brunswick & Brunswick Hills

Pumpkin Village at Mapleside Farms runs Friday, September 18, from 4 to 9 PM, Saturday, September 19, from 11 AM to 9 PM, and Sunday, September 20, from 11 AM to 6 PM on Pearl Road in Brunswick. It is the fall headliner, with pumpkin picking, hayrides, a corn maze, and 20-plus attractions including the Valley of the Dinosaurs walk-through. This is the official start of fall in Brunswick.
Healthy Kids Running Series is Sunday, September 20, at 3 PM at Heritage Farm on Laurel Road in Brunswick. Kids from pre-K through 8th grade run age-appropriate distances in this five-week fall series. It is an easy way to get the whole family outside before the week starts.

Medina

Medina Square Farmers Market is Saturday, September 19, from 9 AM to 1 PM at Public Square. More than 70 vendors bring peak-season produce, artisan cheeses, flowers, and baked goods every Saturday through October 10. It is the perfect way to start the day.
ALL ABOARD with the Northeastern Ohio Live Steamers runs Saturday, September 19, from 12:30 to 4:30 PM at Lester Rail Trail on Lester Road in Medina. The Medina County Park District hosts free miniature train rides for all ages. Train fans of every generation will love it.
Fuzzy Caterpillars is open Saturday and Sunday, September 19 and 20, from noon to 5 PM at Allardale Park in Medina. This free family nature program from the Medina County Park District is a hands-on way to get the kids outside.
Starry, Starry Nights at Letha House is Saturday, September 19, from 8 to 10 PM at Letha House Park. The park district hosts this free stargazing evening, so bring a blanket and look up.
Rally in the Alley features Colin Dussault's Blues Project with Stakhouse on Saturday, September 19, at 7 PM at The Common Ground on North State Road in Medina. Live blues and good company are a great way to end the evening.

Valley City

Valley City's own calendar is quiet this weekend, and that is part of its charm. Mill Stream Park on the Rocky River is a lovely spot for a walk, and the park district programs above are a short drive away if you want family fun. Otherwise, take a slow drive through the scenic river valley and stop in at a local spot.

Hinckley

Hinckley's calendar is quiet this weekend, too, but the Hinckley Reservation is always open. The trails around Hinckley Lake and up at Whipp's Ledges are beautiful as the leaves start to turn. Pack a lunch and make an afternoon of it.

Brunswick & Brunswick Hills

Pumpkin Village opens at Mapleside Farms on Friday, September 11, at 3:30 PM on Pearl Road in Brunswick. The fall season kicks off with pumpkin picking, hayrides, a corn maze, and more than 20 attractions. It is the official start of fall in Brunswick.
Vino the Way returns to Mapleside Farms Friday and Saturday evening, September 11 and 12. Take an evening hayride tasting through the orchard, with five wine and beer stations tucked into the corn maze. It is a fun date-night way to welcome fall.
Harvest Walk benefits the Kidney Foundation of Ohio on Sunday, September 13, at 8:30 AM at Mapleside Farms. It is a charity walk on the farm grounds and a lovely way to start the day.
Fall-O-Ween Fest is Saturday, September 12, at 10 AM at Fair Trade on Pearl Road. This fall-themed market brings pumpkins, mums, haybales, local vendors, and face painting for the whole family.

Medina

Medina Square Farmers Market is Saturday, September 12, from 9 AM to 1 PM at Public Square. More than 70 vendors bring peak-season produce, cheeses, flowers, and baked goods. This week also includes the Any Lab Test Now Wellness Expo, so you can shop and check in on your health in one trip.
Ohio Goes to the Movies screens at Regal Medina Cinema on Saturday, September 12, at 2 PM. Part of the America 250 statewide celebration, this free program showcases films highlighting Ohioans. A great way to spend an afternoon.

Valley City

Valley City's own calendar is quiet this weekend, and that is part of its charm. The Lake to Lake Bike Tour pedals off Saturday, September 12, nearby in Medina if you want an early start. Otherwise, take a slow drive through the scenic river valley and stop in at a local spot.

Hinckley

Hinckley Community Shred Day is Saturday, September 12, from 9 AM to noon in the parking lot behind the Hinckley Administrative and Zoning Offices at 1410 Ridge Road. Bring your old documents and have them securely shredded for free. A practical way to clear out the clutter.
Touch-A-Truck runs Saturday, September 12, from 1 to 5 PM, hosted by the Hinckley Fire Department at 1616 Ridge Road. Kids can climb aboard fire trucks and other big rigs. Free family fun the little ones will talk about for days.

Brunswick & Brunswick Hills

Pumpkin Village kicks off at Mapleside Farms this Friday, September 11, on Pearl Road in Brunswick. It runs through November 1 with pumpkin picking, hayrides, and 20-plus fall attractions across 100 acres. New this year is Valley of the Dinosaurs, a walk through the woods with 40-plus dinosaurs, free with your ticket. It is the official start of fall in Brunswick.
Fall-O-Ween Fest is Saturday, September 12, at 10 AM at Fair Trade on Pearl Road in Brunswick. This fall-themed mini festival brings pumpkins, local vendors, face painting, and activities for the whole family. A fun, easy stop for the kids.

Medina

Medina Square Farmers Market is on Saturday, September 12, from 9 AM to 1 PM at Public Square. More than 70 vendors bring peak-season produce, cheeses, flowers, and baked goods every Saturday through October 10. Bird Brain: Waxwings runs Saturday, September 12, from 10 AM to noon with the Medina County Park District, and Fuzzy Caterpillars is open Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 PM. Both are free, family-friendly ways to get the kids outside.

Valley City

Valley City's own calendar is quiet this weekend, and that is part of its charm. The Lake Bike Ride pedals off Saturday, September 12, at 8 AM from just up the road on Wedgewood Road in Medina, a nice option if you want an early start. Otherwise, take a slow drive through the scenic river valley and stop in at a local spot.

Hinckley

There is no confirmed festival on the Hinckley calendar this weekend, but the Hinckley Reservation is always open. The trails around Hinckley Lake and up at Whipp's Ledges are beautiful as the leaves start to turn. Pack a lunch and make an afternoon of it. Fun fact: Hinckley's big day is Buzzard Day each March, when the buzzards return to Whipp's Ledges.

Hey friends! Labor Day weekend is finally here, and it is the unofficial last hurrah of summer across our communities. I checked what is happening Friday through Sunday in Brunswick, Valley City, Medina, and Hinckley so you can make the most of every minute. Here is your weekend to-do list.

Brunswick & Brunswick Hills

The HEAT at Willow Lake Park is the big one this weekend: Saturday, September 5 at 7 PM at Willow Lake Park in Brunswick. It is billed as the ultimate end-of-summer party, with the HEAT playing live in the park. Grab a lawn chair and settle in for a relaxed evening of live tunes.
Third Monkey returns on Sunday, September 6 at 7 PM,also at Willow Lake Park,for a second night of free outdoor tunes. Bring the whole crew,because this band knows how to send summer off proper.
Mapleside Farms on Pearl Road starts easing into fall this month, with Pumpkin Village coming in September. Not an event for this exact weekend, but worth putting on your radar if you love a good autumn outing.

Medina

Medina Square Farmers Market is on Saturday, September 5 from 9 AM to 1 PM at Public Square. More than 70 vendors bring peak-season produce, cheeses, flowers, and baked goods every Saturday through October. It is the perfect way to start the day.
Native Plant Festival and Sale runs Saturday, September 5 from 10 AM to 3 PM at the Oenslager Nature Center, hosted by the Medina County Park District. Admission is free, and there is a native plant sale, monarch tagging, games, and crafts. A fun, hands-on outing for the whole family.

Valley City

Movie in the Park screens Toy Story 5 at Mill Stream Park on Friday, September 4 at ​7 PM. Bring chairs,and blankets,andthe kids,for a family movie night under the stars. Admission is free,andthere is nothing quite like a September evening at the park.

Hinckley

I checked Hinckley and there is no confirmed festival on the books this weekend, but the Hinckley Reservation is always open. The trails around Hinckley Lake and up at Whipp's Ledges are gorgeous for a final hooray of summer hike. Pack a lunch and make an afternoon of it.

Brunswick and Brunswick Hills: Country Redford (live country music) at Mapleside Farms, Friday Aug 28 at 6 PM. A great way to kick off the weekend with live tunes and apple-country vibes. Also check the Mapleside Farms weekend lineup for Saturday night entertainment.
Medina: Medina Cars and Coffee, Sunday Aug 30 in the Uptown Medina square — a relaxed morning walk-around of classic and exotic cars, coffee in hand. Lights of Hope (for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network) at Medina Square, Saturday Aug 29 at 6 PM — an inspiring evening on the square. Mill Street August Makers Market in Uptown Medina this weekend — shop local makers, artists and small-batch goods.
Strongsville: Town Center Park Community Market at the Strongsville Town Center — local farmers, craft vendors and bakers, a great Saturday-morning stop. Live courtyard music most evenings at the Encore Event Center on Pearl Road.
Valley City and Brunswick Hills: Enjoy the slower small-town pace — take a drive through the scenic river valley, grab a bite at a local spot, and enjoy the last of summer.

Hey friends! We are deep into August now and the days are getting just a little bit shorter, but do not worry, this week is absolutely stacked with things to do. The South Town Arts and Music Fest is happening, Mapleside has another incredible Friday night concert, and Hinckley Lake is calling your name.
Monday Wing Buffet at On Tap Grille When: Monday, August 17, 5-9 PM Where: On Tap Grille Medina, Public Square Unlimited wings for $14.99 per person with a dozen sauces to choose from. The patio is perfect for a late summer evening, so kick off the week the right way.
A Taste of Summer Farm Market When: Tuesday-Sunday, 11 AM-6 PM Where: 360 Pearl Road, Brunswick Fresh sweet corn, ripe tomatoes, local honey, and handcrafted goods. Peak season produce does not last forever, so stock up while you can.
Try-It: Paddle with Your Family When: Thursday, August 20 Where: Hinckley Lake Boathouse Store, Hinckley Reservation Kayaks and stand-up paddleboards are available with staff to help you get started. The lake is calm and the late summer light on the water is gorgeous. Reservations recommended.
Masquerade Party at Thirsty Cowboy When: Thursday, August 20 Where: Thirsty Cowboy, Medina Live music, drink specials, and a photobooth. Costumes encouraged, good vibes guaranteed.
Concerts Over the Valley: Out of Eden (Eagles Tribute) When: Friday, August 21, gates 6 PM, music 7 PM Where: Mapleside Farms, Brunswick Food trucks on site. Bring a blanket or lawn chair for a night of classic rock with that million-dollar view of the valley. Kids 16 and under get in free.
Medina Square Farmers Market When: Saturday, August 22, 9 AM-1 PM Where: Public Square, Medina Over 70 vendors selling peak-season produce, artisan cheeses, fresh flowers, local honey, and baked goods. The tomatoes and sweet corn are perfect right now.
South Town Arts and Music Festival When: Saturday, August 22, 11 AM-10 PM Where: South Town District, Medina A free community event with live music at multiple venues, art vendors, and food all day. Evening headliners include LegendZ (tribute to Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Queen) plus Paper Morning. VIP bundle passes available.
Live Music in Brunswick Zack the Singing Bartender is live at Panini's Bar and Grill at 6 PM, and Tarp Rocks plays at Willow Lake Park at 7 PM.
Sunday at The Farm Market When: Sunday, August 23, 10 AM-1 PM Where: Brunswick Produce, homemade jams, baked goods, and crafts. Or spend a quiet afternoon at Lake Medina or the trails at Hinckley Reservation.

Cuyahoga County Fair & Weekend Roundup (August 13-16)

Hey everyone! We are halfway through August and the summer bucket list is running short on time. But this weekend brings one of the biggest events of the season: the Cuyahoga County Fair. Farmers markets are overflowing and there are still outdoor concerts left before the season wraps up.
Cuyahoga County Fair When: Tuesday through Sunday, August 11-16 Where: Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds, 164 Eastland Road, Berea The 129th Cuyahoga County Fair is a BIG event. Carnival rides, livestock shows, demolition derbies, midway games, fair food classics, and live entertainment. The grandstand schedule is stacked with motorsports and music all week. Ride specials run throughout the week.
Concerts Over the Valley When: Friday, August 14, gates 6 PM, music 7 PM Where: Mapleside Farms, Brunswick After a day at the fair, head over for one more Friday night concert on the Sunset Stage. Food trucks on site, sunset view over the valley, and live music.
Medina Square Farmers Market When: Saturday, August 15, 9 AM-1 PM Where: Public Square, Medina Over 70 vendors. This is peak tomato and sweet corn season, do not sleep on it.
Farmers Market of Medina County When: Saturday, August 15, 9 AM-noon Where: Cornerstone Chapel, 3939 Granger Road, Medina A second round of local shopping if you want more.
Cuyahoga County Fair: Saturday Saturday is the biggest day with a full lineup of grandstand events, midway action, and the biggest crowd of the week. The energy is infectious.
Blue Heron Brewery When: Friday nights Where: 3227 Blue Heron Trace, Medina Live music on the patio, perfect for late summer evenings. Check their schedule for this week's lineup.

Medina County Fair When: Through Sunday, August 9 Where: Fairgrounds, 720 W. Smith Road, Medina The 181st Medina County Fair is still rolling. Thursday night is your last chance for bull riding at 7 PM. The midway, exhibition halls with prize-winning pies and quilts, and the smell of fried dough are all waiting for you.
Independence Home Days When: Friday, August 7, 6-11 PM; Saturday, August 8, noon-11 PM Where: Elmwood Park, 6363 Selig Drive, Independence A hidden gem of a community festival with carnival rides, games, live entertainment, and that classic hometown feel. Admission is free. Bring a chair and settle in.
Concerts Over the Valley When: Friday, August 7, gates 6 PM, music 7 PM Where: Mapleside Farms, Brunswick Mapleside's Friday night concert series continues on the Sunset Stage with food trucks and that million-dollar view. Evenings are starting to cool down just enough to make it perfect.
Medina Square Farmers Market: Customer Appreciation Day When: Saturday, August 8, 9 AM-1 PM Where: Public Square, Medina Over 70 vendors with peak-season produce, artisan cheeses, fresh flowers, and local baked goods. Customer appreciation specials make this one of the best market days of the year.
Affair on the Square Craft Festival When: Saturday, August 8 (during market hours) Where: Historic Square, Medina Dozens of crafters, artists, and vintage vendors set up around the square. Live music, food vendors, and the whole square feels like a community living room.
Richfield Community Day When: Sunday, August 9 Where: Richfield Local food, games, and neighbors catching up on the village green. Or spend the afternoon at Hinckley Reservation hiking the trails around the lake.

Strongsville Homecoming & Parma Ukrainian Festival (July 30-August 3)

Hey friends! The final week of July is here and it is absolutely packed. We have the return of a beloved hometown tradition, a celebration of Ukrainian culture, and so much more.
Strongsville Homecoming Festival When: Thursday, July 30 through Saturday, August 1 Where: City Commons, corner of Pearl and Royalton Roads, Strongsville The 84th year of this tradition. Carnival rides, games, food vendors, live music every night, and fireworks that light up the whole valley. Midway opens at 3 PM, all-day ride passes are $30, admission is free.
Pokrova Ukrainian Festival When: Friday, July 31 through Sunday, August 2 Where: Pokrova Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church, 6812 Broadview Road, Parma Homemade pierogies, stuffed cabbage, borscht, and incredible baked goods. Live music and traditional dance performances. Friday 6-11 PM, Saturday 2-11 PM, Sunday noon-9 PM. The Friday evening crowd has a special energy.
Concerts Over the Valley When: Friday, July 31, gates 6 PM, music 7 PM Where: Mapleside Farms, Brunswick Friday night concert on the Sunset Stage with food trucks and that golden hour valley view.
Medina Square Farmers Market When: Saturday, August 1, 9 AM-1 PM Where: Public Square, Medina Over 70 vendors with peak-season produce, artisan cheeses, fresh flowers, and locally baked bread.
Strongsville Homecoming Fireworks When: Saturday, August 1, after dark Where: City Commons, Strongsville Family day with special kids activities, then fireworks to close out the festival.
Cuyahoga Valley Farmers Market When: Saturday, August 1, 9 AM-noon Where: Howe Meadow Seventy local farmers and food producers.
