This Weekend in Brunswick, Medina & Valley City
Hey friends! October is here, and it is bringing the crisp air and big fall weekends we wait all year for. I checked what is happening Friday through Sunday in Brunswick, Valley City, Medina, and Hinckley so you can plan a great few days. Here is your weekend roundup.
Brunswick & Brunswick Hills
Pumpkin Village at Mapleside Farms is in full swing all weekend at 294 Pearl Road in Brunswick. Friday, October 2, is Fun Friday from 4 to 9 PM with discounted admission, and the farm is open Saturday, October 3, from 11 AM to 9 PM and Sunday, October 4, from 11 AM to 6 PM. Pumpkin picking, hayrides, the giant corn maze, and more than 20 attractions including the 311-foot Super Slide are all waiting.
The 53rd Annual Johnny Appleseed Festival takes over the farm Saturday, October 3, from 11 AM to 9 PM, and Sunday, October 4, from 11 AM to 6 PM. Expect apple pies, caramel apples, and other fresh apple treats, plus living-history characters like Johnny Appleseed, Amelia Earhart, and Paul Bunyan roaming the grounds. It is the biggest fall weekend of the season in Brunswick.
Medina
Medina Square Farmers Market is Saturday, October 3, from 9 AM to 1 PM at Public Square. More than 70 vendors bring peak-season produce, artisan cheeses, flowers, and baked goods, and the season finishes October 10, so this is one of the last Saturdays to shop. Grab your coffee early and wander the whole square.
Medina Restaurant Week runs Friday, October 2, through Sunday, October 11, featuring local independent restaurants around Uptown Medina and the square. It is a tasty excuse to try someplace new between fall outings.
Halloween at Hambley is Saturday and Sunday, October 3 and 4, from noon to 5 PM at Hambley Park. The Medina County Park District hosts this free, all-ages fall celebration, and it is a great way to get the kids outdoors.
Starry, Starry Nights at Letha House is Saturday, October 3, from 8 to 10 PM at Letha House Park. The park district and the Cuyahoga Astronomical Association set up telescopes for free stargazing, so bring a blanket and look up.
Valley City
Valley City's own calendar is quiet this weekend, and that is part of its charm. Mill Stream Park on the Rocky River is lovely for a fall walk any day of the weekend. Take a slow drive through the scenic river valley and stop in at a local spot.
Hinckley
There is no confirmed festival on the Hinckley calendar this weekend, but the Hinckley Reservation is always open. The trails around Hinckley Lake and up at Whipp's Ledges are turning gorgeous as the leaves change, and the lake is calm this time of year. Pack a lunch and make an afternoon of it.
Whatever you get into, enjoy the weekend. And if one of these communities has you thinking about a move, I would love to help you find the perfect place to call home. I've got you.
